Infection Prevention & Health Monitoring covers two everyday responsibilities that protect participants' health: stopping the spread of infection, and noticing changes in a participant's condition early. Adult day participants are often older or medically fragile and gather together daily, which makes both essential. This course covers how infections spread, standard precautions, hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, cleaning, illness policies, and recognizing and reporting changes in participants' physical and mental health — including signs that may indicate infection, dehydration, or a medical emergency. It connects to the supervision and reporting covered elsewhere in the course. The throughline: clean hands and consistent precautions prevent illness, and attentive observation catches problems early — together they keep participants safe and healthy.
