Vulnerable Adult Protection & Reporting trains adult day services staff and volunteers to recognize and report the abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults. Under Minnesota's Vulnerable Adults Act, Minnesota Statutes section 626.557, adult day services staff are mandated reporters, and every participant is, by law, a vulnerable adult. Reporting of maltreatment is a required part of annual training. This course covers who is protected, the categories of maltreatment, warning signs, how and where to report to the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC), reporter protections, and the license holder's responsibilities. It applies to everyone with participant contact, including volunteers and subcontractors. The throughline: if you have reason to believe a vulnerable adult is being maltreated, you report. It's a legal duty, you're protected for reporting in good faith, and it's the heart of keeping participants safe.
