Supervision & Safety of Participants covers the core daily responsibility of adult day services: keeping every participant safe. Participants may have cognitive changes, mobility limits, or medical needs that make supervision and a safe environment essential, and Minnesota's rules set staffing ratios and safety standards to support it. This course covers supervision and staffing ratios, knowing your participants and their needs, environmental and fall safety, wandering and elopement, transitions and transportation, choking and food safety, and responding when something goes wrong. It connects safe supervision to the rules and to person-centered care. The throughline: supervision isn't just watching — it's knowing each participant, maintaining a safe environment and proper ratios, and acting quickly when needed, so every participant goes home safely.
