The 245I Biennial Refresher keeps mental health behavioral aides and other non-professional 245I staff current on the core duties Minnesota requires them to revisit — client rights and protections, the Minnesota Health Records Act (confidentiality and privacy), and emergency procedures — with a mandated-reporting refresher. Under Minn. Stat. 245I.05, subd. 4, non-professional staff complete 30 hours of training every two years, tuned to program needs and the staff person's competencies; this module packages the required recurring core into one clean course. The course refreshes client rights under Minn. Stat. 245I.12 (dignity, information, participation, privacy, and grievances without retaliation) and how they show up in daily practice; the Minnesota Health Records Act (confidential by default, release with valid consent, minimum necessary, and everyday privacy habits); and program emergency procedures for fire, severe weather, a missing person, and behavioral and medical crises, with a calm response sequence. It closes with documentation duties and a reset on staying within MHBA scope.
