Recovery, Resiliency & Child Development gives mental health behavioral aides the frame for what CTSS is working toward and how to match support to each child. It defines recovery as the ongoing process of building skills, relationships, and hope — not merely the absence of symptoms — and presents resiliency as a capacity that can be grown through relationships, practice, and experiences of success. The course teaches a strengths-based, hope-centered stance and the protective factors that build resilience, led by the single most powerful one: at least one stable, caring adult. The second half maps child development across the physical, cognitive, language, and social-emotional domains, with a practical guide to milestones from early childhood through the teen years. Aides learn to set developmentally appropriate expectations, co-regulate before expecting self-regulation, use play and reachable goals, and draw on family and cultural strengths so gains continue after services end. This module blends two of the required training topics — recovery and resiliency (Minn. Stat. 245I.05, subd. 3(c)(2)) and child development (subd. 3(d)) — for mental health behavioral aides in Children's Therapeutic Services and Supports.
