Trauma-Informed & Culturally Responsive Clinic Care extends two essential approaches across the whole clinic. Many clients have trauma histories, and every client brings a culture and identity that shapes their care — and these realities matter not just in the therapy room, but at the front desk, on the phone, and throughout the clinic's environment and practices. This course covers trauma and its prevalence, the principles of a trauma-informed clinic, avoiding re-traumatization in clinic practices, cultural humility and responsiveness, language access and equity, creating a welcoming and safe environment, and staff wellbeing. It builds on the behavioral health and clinic content and applies to clinical and non-clinical staff alike. The throughline: a trauma-informed, culturally responsive clinic builds safety and respect into everything — its people, its practices, and its space. When the whole clinic embodies these approaches, clients feel safe enough to engage and heal.
