Suicide Risk & Crisis Response in the Clinic prepares all clinic staff to recognize suicide risk and respond to mental-health crises. Mental health clinics serve people at elevated risk, and a crisis can arise anywhere — the waiting room, a phone call, or a session. Quick, calm, correct response, by anyone, can save a life. This course covers suicide risk and protective factors, warning signs, asking directly (for clinical roles) and responding (for all roles), responding to a crisis in the clinic, the 988 Lifeline and county crisis teams, safety within the clinic, and reporting and follow-up. It builds on the recognizing-risk lesson and extends the behavioral health content to the clinic setting. The throughline: suicide risk and crises happen in clinics, and everyone has a role — recognizing risk, responding calmly, not leaving the person alone, and connecting to help. Preparation by the whole team saves lives.
