Health, Medication & Daily Care covers supporting the physical and emotional health and daily needs of children in foster care. Children come into care with health needs that may have been neglected, and foster parents play a central role in getting them the care they need — while working within consent and authorization rules and partnering with the medical and case team. This course covers meeting daily needs, accessing and coordinating health care, consent and authorization, safe medication management, supporting mental and behavioral health, nutrition and development, and recognizing and responding to health changes and emergencies. It connects daily care to the child's wellbeing and the case plan. The throughline: foster parents are a child's advocate and caregiver for health — meeting daily needs with warmth, getting them the care they're entitled to, managing medications safely, and partnering with the team.
