Abuse Prevention & Mandated Reporting trains front-line caregivers to recognize, prevent, and report the abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults. Under Minnesota's Vulnerable Adults Act, Minnesota Statutes section 626.557, caregivers are mandated reporters, and the clients you serve are vulnerable adults under the law. This course defines the categories of maltreatment, teaches warning signs, covers prevention and your own conduct, and walks step by step through reporting to the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC). It is built around one rule: if you have reason to believe a vulnerable adult is being or has been maltreated, you report immediately. The throughline: recognizing harm and reporting it isn't optional or someone else's job — it's a legal duty and the heart of protecting the people in your care.
