Medication Support teaches unlicensed assisted living staff how to assist with and administer medications safely and within the law. In Minnesota, medication administration by unlicensed personnel is allowed only when a registered nurse has delegated the task under the Nurse Practice Act (Minn. Stat. 148.171–148.285) and Chapter 144G. This course defines that boundary and the safe-practice habits that protect residents. The module distinguishes medication assistance from administration, explains the RN's role in delegation, training, and supervision, and teaches the Rights of medication administration. It emphasizes what unlicensed staff may not do, when to stop and call the nurse, and how errors are handled honestly and safely. Medications help residents only when given correctly. The throughline is competence within scope: do what you are trained and delegated to do, document it, and escalate anything uncertain to the nurse.
