Maltreatment Reporting trains assisted living staff to recognize and report the abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of vulnerable adults. Under Minnesota's Vulnerable Adults Act, Minnesota Statutes section 626.557, assisted living employees are mandated reporters. Every resident you serve is, by law, a vulnerable adult. The module defines the categories of maltreatment, teaches the warning signs, and walks step by step through reporting to the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC) — what to report, how fast, and what happens next. It is built around one rule: if you have reason to believe a vulnerable adult is being or has been maltreated, you report immediately. You do not investigate first, and you are protected from retaliation when you report in good faith. Knowing the signs and the number is not enough; acting on them is the job. This course makes the duty concrete so that, in the moment, you know exactly what to do.
