Minnesota Statutes section 245D.09, subdivision 4, requires your orientation to cover maltreatment reporting for children as well as vulnerable adults. Chapter 260E governs the maltreatment of minors, and it differs from the Vulnerable Adults Act in ways that matter when you are the one making the call. This lesson covers who counts as a minor, the eight categories of maltreatment under chapter 260E, where the report goes — which depends on whether the maltreatment happened inside a licensed program — and the written follow-up that chapter 260E requires and the adult process does not. You may support only adults. You are still a mandated reporter for children, and children are present in the settings you work in. The duty does not depend on who is on your caseload.
