Most people you support under a 245D licence meet Minnesota's definition of a vulnerable adult, and you are a mandated reporter. This lesson gives you a working understanding of what maltreatment is, how to recognise it, and what the law requires of you when you suspect it. It is built on Minnesota's Vulnerable Adults Act, Minnesota Statutes section 626.557, and the definitions in section 626.5572. You will learn the three legal categories of maltreatment, the warning signs, how to reach the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center, and how internal reporting works alongside it. One rule sits under all of it: report as soon as possible. Minnesota law defines 'immediately' as as soon as possible, and in no event longer than 24 hours from the time you first knew of the incident. That is an outer limit, not a target.
