Grief, Loss & Bereavement helps hospice team members understand grief and support the many people touched by loss — patients facing their own dying, families grieving before and after a death, and team members who grieve the patients they care for. Grief is a natural, individual process, and how the team responds shapes the experience for everyone. This course covers what grief and loss are, anticipatory grief, how grief varies and shows up, supporting grieving patients and families, bereavement services, complicated grief and when to refer, children and grief, and the caregiver's own grief and self-care. It builds on the communication skills from the prior lesson. The throughline: grief is the natural response to loss, and there's no single right way to grieve. By understanding grief and offering presence, compassion, and the right support, you help people through one of life's hardest experiences — and care for yourself along the way.
