Overview:
Grief is a universal human experience, and home care workers encounter it regularly. From loss of independence to the death of a loved one, clients experience many forms of grief. This course teaches caregivers to recognize grief, respond compassionately, distinguish normal grief from clinical conditions, and know when to escalate concerns.
Learning Objectives:
– Identify the stages and models of grief
– Distinguish normal grief from complicated grief
– Recognize adjustment disorder symptoms
– Support grieving clients through compassionate care
– Know when and how to escalate grief-related concerns
Topics Covered:
Types of loss, Kubler-Ross stages of grief, Worden tasks of mourning, normal vs. complicated grief, adjustment disorders, compassionate communication, and escalation protocols.
