This is the foundational PSR training required for all DSPs before providing direct support services under a 245D license. It covers the full scope of the Positive Supports Rule — the law, the philosophy, and the practical skills — and prepares staff to support people using strengths-based, person-centered approaches.

This course covers:
∙ History, purpose, and legal basis of the Positive Supports Rule
∙ Prohibited procedures: what they are and why they are prohibited
∙ Positive support strategies and evidence-based de-escalation
∙ The Positive Support Transition Plan (PSTP): when required and how it works
∙ Emergency Use of Manual Restraint (EUMR): criteria, documentation, and reporting
∙ Person-centered planning and its connection to the PSR
∙ Documentation requirements for PSR-related events
Note: This course satisfies the 7.5-hour online training component. Your agency must separately provide 0.5 hours of company-specific content and arrange in-person EUMR certification before staff have unsupervised contact with persons served.
