Mandated Reporting: Maltreatment of Minors
245D Caregiver Certification | 1.5 Hours | CareCertify.net
Every person who works with children in a care setting is a mandated reporter under Minnesota law — and that obligation is personal, immediate, and non-delegable. This course covers everything you need to know to recognize, respond to, and report suspected maltreatment of minors in compliance with MN Statutes, chapter 260E and 2024–2025 legislative updates.
This course covers:
∙ Legal definitions of maltreatment including physical abuse, neglect, sexual abuse, mental injury, and labor trafficking
∙ Who is a mandated reporter and what that obligation means
∙ How and where to report — DCYF, county agencies, and law enforcement
∙ The 24-hour reporting requirement and written follow-up
∙ Anti-suppression requirements — what your agency cannot do
∙ Internal review procedures following a report
∙ 2025 updates: labor trafficking of minors added as a form of maltreatment effective July 1, 2025
Audience: All direct support staff, supervisors, and managers working in 245D-licensed programs that serve or may serve individuals under age 18.
