3. 🚨 Maltreatment Reporting
Definitions of abuse, neglect, and exploitation
Mandated reporter duties
How and when to file a report
Protections for reporters
4. 👤 Person-Centered Service Planning
Philosophy and principles of person-centered care
Respecting autonomy, preferences, and goals
How to participate in service planning meetings
5. ⛑️ Basic First Aid & Emergency Response
Recognizing emergencies (e.g. injury, fire, severe symptoms)
First-response actions for bleeding, choking, and burns
Emergency contact protocols and documentation
Using 911 and urgent care coordination
6. ❌ Prohibited Procedures & Emergency Use of Manual Restraint (EUMR)
What is prohibited: aversive, seclusion, chemical restraint
Legal limits on use of physical restraint
EUMR protocol, documentation, and DHS reporting
Staff responsibilities in restraint-related emergencies
7. 🧍 Orientation to an Individual’s Personal Needs
Training includes direct supervision and review of:
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, eating
Medication administration policies
Use of equipment (wheelchairs, lifts, etc.)
Crisis response planning for specific individuals
📝 Completion Requirements
Pass all quizzes with 80% or higher
Complete the in-person or virtual competency checklist
Sign orientation acknowledgment form
Supervisor sign-off on OJT (On-the-Job Training) skills
