Knowing the rights of the people you serve isn’t optional — it’s the foundation of everything you do as a caregiver. This course covers the full scope of service-related and protection-related rights under MN Statutes, section 245D.04 and explains exactly how those rights show up in your day-to-day work.
This course covers:
∙ Service-related rights: choice, preferences, community access, and self-determination
∙ Protection-related rights: privacy, dignity, freedom from maltreatment and restraint
∙ Your role in upholding and actively supporting rights
∙ What to do when you observe a rights violation
∙ How rights connect to person-centered planning and support plans
∙ Documentation when rights issues arise

Audience: All direct support staff and supervisors providing services under a 245D license.
